Rules to Check the Divisibility of Numbers

  • A number divided by zero is undefined.

  • Every number is divisible by 1.

  • A number is divisible by 2 if the unit digit has either 0 or 2 or 4 or 6 or 8.

  • Any number is divisible by 3 if the sum of digits will be divisible by 3.

  • You can say a number is divisible by 4 if the number created by last two digits will be divisible by 4.

  • A number is divisible by 5 if at the unit place, it has 5 or 0.

  • Any number is divisible by 8 if a number created by the digit of unit’s, ten’s and hundreds is divisible by 8.

  • A number is divisible by 9 if the sum of all the digits will be divisible by 9.

  • You can say a number is divisible by 10 if it has 0 at its unit’s place.

  • A number is divisible by 11 if

The sum of digits at odd places – The sum of digits at even place (Vice-versa, whichever number is larger) = 0 or multiple of 11/divisible by 11.
