“My solution to the end” 29th of 48 Laws of Power (Robert Greene)

Plan all the way to the end

Landing on a business empire, gainful employment and happy career are as the ending and ultimatums on the life of an aspiring student. The preparation and ending is everything. The classroom is a well-planned space and the starting point of the achiever who would mark the “on your march, ready get set, go!”  taking into account all the possible consequences, obstacles, and twists of fortune that might reverse their many years of hard yet smart work and give the glory to the family, school, community and to themselves. By planning with the students to the end of their years of schooling, you will not be overwhelmed by circumstances and you will know they will soon graduate and stop entering your beautiful curriculum well-designed classroom set up.  Gently guide fortune and help determine the future by thinking far ahead these students will reach.

Curriculum developers particularly in Mathematics Education, must not be blinded by their fantasy for the perfect position they are as writers of the curriculum and overwhelmed with the write up as they found gold to bring to teachers to teach, there may be leaders who are not planning but only demise the beauty of the context in the curriculum.

The call is, align these curricular topics with the needs of students for their future. Insert constructive instruction in Mathematics that the students would never ignore and realize it as a vital part to form their future.

Plan all the way, however learning the different rules of derivatives in Calculus subject is not very beautiful when it is not connected to real applicability, say, in business life. Instead, plan a meaningful example “What will happen to the company’s profit when the operations management  plans to increase its number of  units produced?” Though the curriculum instructors create a tangible plan that would act out of a rash emotion in finishing all the contexts prescribed in the curriculum, adapt methodically planning ahead to make a change is necessary to meet a particular need of learners, say would-be  CEOs, engineers, researchers, executives, chefs and all the like.

Many of curriculum planners are on their own search for metaphorical gold and physical riches like thick textbooks and sophisticated classrooms. Through that process, many become hyper-focused on the end goal missing everything that’s happening the learners themselves as most educators just teach missing the point of mentoring the actual future demand that will enable them to use in their own field later on. “Most teachers are ruled by teaching the curriculum, not reaching out to the hearts and future needs of learners.

The plans are vague, and when they meet obstacles, they improvise. But improvisations will only bring as far as the learning crisis and is never a substitute for thinking several steps ahead and planning to the end as the student will land on a gainful business world and competitive employment they aspire.

What good is it to receive that dream of the best educator award, who fulfilled the context of the curriculum in no time and very efficient, when the aspiring students miss the point for their ultimate dreams in life?

Never lose your head over a vague, open-ended dream —plan to the end.”- Alexander Sandalis, 2017.
